I had the pleasure to attend the Supply Chain Management panel at Ford Otosan Supplier Sustainability Committee Meeting on May 28, 2024.
Together with Seda Çınlar, Sustainability and Stakeholder Relations Manager at Koç Holding, we discussed the impact of sustainability rules and regulations in automotive supply chains. I highlighted the importance of revising strategic supplier selection criteria and integrating dimensions such as the impact on carbon emissions, potential to reduce waste and energy, being located in risky areas (e.g., conflict minerals). We also talked about the recent Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, which requires firms with more than 1000 employees to ensure sustainability in their supply chains. Finally, I discussed the concept of “supply chain mapping” and how it can be utilized as an effective tool to manage sustainability in automotive supply chains.
