Summary

This page is no longer updated. Please see the following for a summary of my master’s studies at Sabancı University.

I obtained my M.S. degree in Mechatronics Engineering from Sabancı University in 2016. My master’s thesis focused on modeling and control of vertical axis wind turbines under the supervision of Prof. Serhat Yeşilyurt. The results of the relevant research can be found in the following publications:

  • Önol, A. Ö. & Yeşilyurt, S. (2017). Effects of wind gusts on a vertical axis wind turbine with high solidity. Journal of Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics, 162, 1-11.
  • Önol, A. Ö., Sancar, U., Onat, A., & Yeşilyurt, S. (2017, May). Comparisons of controller performances for small-scale vertical axis wind turbines. In American Control Conference (ACC). IEEE.
  • Önol, A. Ö., Sancar, U., Onat, A., & Yeşilyurt, S. (2016, October). Modeling, hardware-in-the-loop simulations and control design for small-scale vertical axis wind turbines. In Dynamic Systems and Control Conference (DSCC). ASME.
  • Önol, A. Ö., Sancar, U., Onat, A., & Yeşilyurt, S. (2015, October). Model predictive control for energy maximization of small-scale vertical axis wind turbines. In Dynamic Systems and Control Conference (DSCC). ASME.
  • Sancar, U., Önol, A. Ö., , Onat, A., & Yeşilyurt, S. (2015, October). Hardware-in-the-loop simulations and control design for a small-scale vertical axis wind turbine. In International Conference on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies (ICAT). IEEE.

Currently, I pursue my Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering at the Robotics and Intelligent Vehicles Research (RIVeR) Lab at Northeastern University.
