Several Postdoctoral Fellow and Research Assistant  Positions Available

1-Postdoctoral Position in Computational Design

A postdoctoral researcher position at the 3D Bioprinting Research Group at Sabancı University is available for a recently funded research project supported by the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF), the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) of UK. The research scientist will mainly be responsible for developing algorithms and implementation of computational design methods for 3D bioprinting applications. The position is for an initial contract period of 2 years, but it can be extended to a longer term based on the qualifications.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Computational design (geometry) for 3D (bio)printing
  • Development and implementation of computational design methods
  • Computer-aided design and engineering of porous scaffolds
  • 3D printing and mechanical testing of the designed porous scaffold
  • Design and development of 3D printing equipment
  • Writing project reports, grant applications, and journal/conference papers
  • Supervising and training students in the related field

Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics or a related field
  • A strong background and hands-on experience in computational geometry (design) and implementation. Rhino Script/ Python knowledge and experience are plus.
  • Strong background and hands-on experience with CAD/CAM and CAE tools.
  • Machine design, especially for 3D printing equipment is preferable.
  • Able to travel internationally for research meetings
  • Excellent English language skills

2-Postdoctoral Position in Biomaterials 

A postdoctoral researcher position is available for a recently funded International Project. The research scientist will mainly be responsible for developing biomaterials (bioinks), modifications, characterization, and testing of them at the 3D Bioprinting Research Group at Sabancı University.  The position is for an initial contract period of 2 years, but it can be extended to a longer term based on the qualifications.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Hydrogel biomaterial and bioink development, preparation and characterization
  • Modification of hydrogel materials
  • Material and mechanical characterizations and testing
  • 3D Bioprinting of cell-laden hydrogels
  • Staining and visualization and characterization of printed constructs
  • Writing project reports, grant applications, and journal/conference papers
  • Managing lab related activities (ordering consumables, planning various experiments in the lab., etc.)
  • Supervising and training students in the related field

Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Biomaterials, Bioengineering or a related field
  • A strong background and hands-on experience in biomaterial chemistry
  • Hands-on experience with biomaterials and their processes.
  • 3D biofabrication and cell-culture knowledge and experiences are plus.
  • Excellent English language skills

Research Assistant Positions

A number of research assistant positions available for prospective Ph.D.  students. The successful candidates will work on several funded research projects related to Additive Manufacturing .

Requirements: Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s or a master’s degree in Mechanical, Engineering or a related field. Preference given to the candidates with strong background in Computational Design, Topology Optimization, Numerical Methods, Processes Development, Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing in metal based additive manufacturing processes.
