Description: The students involved in this project will construct molecular models of spin labels which serve as reporters when covalently attached to proteins, RNA, and DNA (as shown in the figure on the right).
The models of the reporters will be constructed and visualized using the software package VMD. The resulting molecular system will be simulated in atomic detail using the molecular dynamics package NAMD.
Curiosity about biological molecules and familiarity with simple programming are highly desirable for successful performance in this project.
