Twisted wire electrospinning: combining high productivity and simplicity

The electrospinning technique has long been restricted by its relatively low production rate. Traditionally the method relies on a needle spinneret from which a viscous polymer solution is electrospun into nanofibers as a single polymer jet. Needleless electrospinning systems with multiple simultaneous jet eruption points offer significantly higher productivity, but are often quite complicated to set up and run. Now, reporting in Nanotechnology, researchers at the University of Helsinki have developed a new method. This needleless twisted wire electrospinning setup offers both high production rates and easy operation. Source
