Welcome
I am a post-doctoral researcher in a joint project conducted by Sabanci University and KU Leuven, entitled Assessing interdependence between the European Union and Turkey: Policies and cooperation in regional and global governance. I am also the author of the book Counter-terrorism and the Prospects of Human Rights: Securitizing Difference and Dissent by Palgrave Macmillan. I completed my PhD in Political Science at Sabanci University, during which I had the chance to spend time as a visiting researcher at the stimulating environment of University of Otago National Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies. My interest and involvement in human rights go back to my postgraduate studies at University of Essex Human Rights Centre where I have attended as a Chevening/ OSI scholar. My research interests include human rights, democracy and pluralism, security studies, migration policies, and qualitative research methods.
