Pınar Akpınar is scholar at the Conflict Resolution and Mediation Program and Academic Coordinator of the Project on the Middle East and the Arab Spring (POMEAS) at Istanbul Policy Center (IPC), Sabancı University. She is also a freelance consultant advising on various topics including Turkish domestic and foreign policy, conflict resolution, humanitarianism, and mediation. Pınar received her PhD from the School of Politics, International Relations and Philosophy (SPIRE), Keele University with her dissertation entitled ‘An emerging mediator on the periphery: Turkey’s mediations in the Syrian-Israeli talks and in Somalia’. Her research interests lie in the intersection between conflict resolution and foreign policy. Her publications appeared in a number of international journals, books and newspapers. She has field research experience in a number of countries including Turkey, Uganda, the Philippines, India, and Israel.
